James F. Gauthier, M.D., M.P.H., Medical Director graduated from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham. He completed his residency at Druid City Hospital in Tuscaloosa. Dr. Gauthier joined OHG in 1994. While working at OHG, he received his Masters in Public Health from the Medical College of Wisconsin and completed a residency in Occupational Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. In 2004, Dr. Gauthier became OHG’s Medical Director. Dr. Gauthier is Board Certified in Occupational Medicine and Family Practice. He is certified by the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners and is a certified Medical Review Officer.

R. Michael Lowery, M.D., M.P.H. graduated from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham and completed his residency at the University of Alabama. He received an M.P.H. from the University of Michigan. He has an extensive occupational medicine background with 18 years experience in an industrial setting serving a diverse industrial work force. Dr. Lowery joined OHG in 1996 and is board certified in Occupational Medicine and Family Practice. Areas of special interest include ergonomics and disability determination. He is a certified Medical Review Officer.

Freddy G. McMurry, M.D., M.P.H.,MBA, a native of Russellville, Alabama, received his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in 1985. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga. He is board certified in Internal Medicine. He earned a master's degree in business administration from the University of Alabama in 1996. He completed an Occupational Medicine residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1998 during which time he completed a master's degree in public health. He is board certified in Occupational Medicine. His special interests include occupational skin and lung disorders. He is certified by the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners and is a certified Medical Review Officer.

Joseph L. Rea, M.D.earned his Doctor of Medicine degree at Indiana University.  After an internship at Tulane University, he undertook specialty training in occupational medicine, toxicology, and public health at the University of Arizona College of Medicine.  He worked as the Medical Director of Texas Eastman Company and later as Medical Director at Kodak Park, an industrial complex with approximately 20,000 employees, before joining OHG.  Dr. Rea’s professional experience and interests center around chemical exposures, medical surveillance, and toxicology.  Dr. Rea is board certified in Occupational Medicine, a certified Medical Review Officer, and an FAA appointed aviation medical examiner as well as certified by the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners.

Eric J. Roth, M.D. graduated from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, Texas. He completed his residency at the Columbus Family Practice Residency program in Columbus, Georgia. Dr. Roth joined OHG in 2005. Dr. Roth is board certified in Family Practice. He is a certified Medical Review Officer and is currently completing coursework and experience criteria to become an FAA flight medical examiner.
